WHATZ-IT COLOR SCALE INDICATOR

Whatz-It Color Scale Indicator is a low tech indicator which supports people with autism and other communication difficulties in scaled decision making situations. Its graduated color scale (green to red) allows a selection of intensity rather than identifying an exact number or abstract facial expression. Whatz-it was designed to address problems with communicating difficult concepts, such as pain, when the user is in a potentially stressful situation. When using a simple device like the Whatz-it, supported with specific training for the user, is a gateway to improved care and a more accurate diagnosis and treatment. A progressive “green to red” color scale allows for the selection of intensity rather than making a discrete choice and avoids the possibility and stress of selecting the “right answer.” Whatz-it comes with a set of eight magnetic tiles which can be easily picked up and placed on the sliding scale. Customized symbol tiles can be added by the user if required. The contact surfaces and tiles are mark resistant and washable, minimizing the potential of cross infection. Whatz-it has been tested with a number of commercial hospital cleaning products. Features Progressive, color-coded indication of intensity Uses colors rather than numbers Includes of 8 key symbols (Widget© symbols) Magnetic tiles for easy placement and storage Continuous scale avoids choosing the ‘right answer’ Scale 1-5 on the reverse for metrics Non-slip rubber feet Washable contact surfaces Can be cleaned with commercial disinfectants Tiles compatible with ProxTalker sticker sheets for customization.
