Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund

Good morning

I just wanted to let you know that the cover story for our August Issue of EP Magazine will be focused on the creation and development of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund which launched April 2, 2015 and featured General Raymond T. Odierno, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army as Keynote Speaker. Over 450 people attended the event in Houston, Texas which raised over $1.4 million. The fund has at this time awarded $1,040,000 to military families in education assistance for children of military personnel killed in action and another $40,000 grant to the COMMIT Foundation for scholarships for veterans transitioning from the military to the civilian sector. These veterans will attend a four week general management certification program called Ignite at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, California.

The website for the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is www.johnnymac.org. Mary Ellen Picciuto, a West Point Graduate is the President & CEO and she can be reached at 845 926 7875

JMSF was founded by fellow graduates and classmates of Colonel Johnny “Mac” McHugh who was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 18, 2010. An Army Aviator, Colonel MacHough served more than 24 years in the Army and is remembered as a selfless soldier, leader, family man and friend.

The mission of the the JMSF is to “step into the gap and, through education assistance, help support veterans and children whose parents made the ultimate sacrifice—-that’s 16,000 children—-whose lives we can impact right now” stated Stephen Cannon, a West Point classmate and co-founder of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and President and CEO of Mercedes Benz USA. “We have a responsibility to give back to these veterans and children who have given up so much—their moms and dads—in service to our country. As a country we need to come together and pay that back.”

Look for our August Issue and read about this inspirational story, the help and assistance they have provided and the service they have rendered, in such a short period of time. Please share this announcement as it is a remarkable story about a group of people who came together to accomplish something that truly makes a difference in a world filled with so much uncertainty and uneasiness.
