Over $1 Million Awarded in 2015

Since our inception just over a year ago, Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund board members and our many supporters have been working hard at fulfilling our mission of giving back to veterans and their family members through education. That’s why we’re exceedingly pleased to tell you—sponsors, donors, volunteers and friends of Johnny Mac—about the grants that we’ve awarded this summer.

We’ve awarded $1 million in college scholarships to children who have lost a parent in the line of military duty. Thanks to our fundraising success this past spring in Houston, Texas, these scholarships went to more than two dozen children of fallen patriots in Texas; the grant will also help pay the college expenses of numerous Gold Star children across the country. We will be returning to Houston in 2016 for our 2nd annual gala, at which time we’ll introduce you to some of our scholarship recipients.

We’ve also awarded $40,000 to support servicemen and women who are transitioning from the military to the civilian sector. These veterans attended a 4-week general management certification program in innovation and entrepreneurship at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, CA. Developed exclusively for post-9/11 veterans, the “Ignite” program is conducted by Stanford professors and corporate executives. Pictured here are some of our first Johnny Mac Fellows at Stanford.

We’re very proud of our progress, and you should be proud, too! We couldn’t have done it without your interest, sponsorship, donations, connections and ideas.

THANK YOU for your continued commitment to Giving Back Through Education.
Sincerely,
MaryEllen Picciuto
