Glide Bikes, a premier American balance bike company, takes its vision of learning to ride a bike, by kids of all ages and abilities, to a whole new level. What started out as a quest to design the perfect bike for kids to safely and effectively learn how to balance on two wheels and, has evolved into a mission to eliminate any boundaries so all can enjoy the fun and freedom associated with riding a bike.

Ed Mondello, founder of Glide Bikes, has announced the introduction of the Super Glider.  The Super Glider is the largest of Glide Bikes offerings and makes balance and mobility a reality for older children and adults who are either learning for the first time or just simply looking for a fun and therapeutic method of getting around. The Super Glider is a result of years of research and testing to offer a multi-purpose bike that combines functionality and simplicity and can reach out to a much wider range of users. The unique design is also great for children and adults with special needs to help learn balance, improve motor skills, build confidence, and learn to ride on two wheels.

The Super Glider is highly adjustable to accommodate most riders ages 10 through adult. It features pedals that fold out of the way, allowing the rider to start out by walking the bike for stability. When the rider is ready for pedals, he or she can fold them out and start pedaling.  An optional electric assist motor with variable speed settings (no more than 20 mph) is also available to help allow people of all fitness levels enjoy the experience.

The Super Glider is collapsible for convenient carrying, transport, and storage purposes and features an adjustable seat height from 25” – 32”, allowing for children from 10 years old to six foot adults to ride.

All Glide Bikes are extremely lightweight and feature optimized seat and head tube angles designed to give the bike the slowest balancing speed possible (1.5 mph), making them the safest balance bikes on the market. Glide Bikes also offer a low seating position that allows for a lower center of gravity and a safer alternative for those with balance deficits.

According to Physical Therapist David Murray, riders of Glide Bikes are able to perform more natural lateral weight shifts, a fundamental skill in learning to balance on one foot, which eventually lead into greater success in higher level balance skills needed for skipping and hopping. Those with disabilities may also experience greater trunk and leg strength. By pushing both feet off the ground, riders stimulate the reciprocal heel-to-toe progression in walking and running. This can lead to riders being able to cover longer distances and improving his or her cardiovascular endurance as well as balance.
