Bonanza Productions Inc. has announced the launch of an open casting call for physically challenged boys (ages 10–13) who use a wheelchair to play an 11-year-old boy in a new, half-hour comedy pilot created by and starring Paul Reiser (“Mad About You”) for NBC.

The online search launches today at tvpilotcastingcall.com  and continues through March 19, 2010. The pilot will shoot in Los Angeles for roughly one week, beginning April 7.

About the character: The kid is sweet, funny, really smart and upbeat. He loves sports, music and everyone he meets – especially adults. Inquisitive and with a mind like a steel trap, he remembers everything – which can be good or bad! He can easily get anxious and sometimes gets a bit obsessively focused on things.

And oh … he has used a wheelchair since birth, so we are only looking for boys who use a wheelchair.

The Internet group CAST IT is handling submissions. Auditions may be submitted 24 hours a day and the process is simple: Fill out the online form; state the actor’s name, age and height; read the audition scene provided; and upload. The site even offers helpful hints to get the best take and provides background information on the role, to help candidates get into character.
